Dear Woodward school staff and parents,
After a thorough superintendent search process, we’re pleased to announce that during Wednesday’s special board meeting, our school board members approved the hire of Rusty Puffinbarger as our next superintendent.
With help from the Oklahoma State School Boards Association, the board selected Puffinbarger from a competitive pool of candidates. OSSBA has helped facilitate superintendent searches across the state, working with other school board associations throughout the country to ensure a competitive candidate pool.
Thank you to the parents, staff and community members who participated in the superintendent search survey. Your responses were important considerations as we navigated the search process and narrowed down candidates to an educational professional who values our district’s work and recognizes the excellence of our programs and extracurriculars.
Mr. Puffinbarger is a dedicated education professional, having served as superintendent of Leedey Public Schools since 2007.
He began his career in education at Arnett Public Schools as a math teacher, coach and principal. In 2005, Mr. Puffinbarger accepted the position of Arnett Public Schools Superintendent, where he served for two years before moving to Leedey.
Mr. Puffinbarger earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Oklahoma State University before completing his Master of Arts in Education Leadership at Southern Nazarene University.
We believe with Mr. Puffinbarger’s guidance, our district will continue to grow to new heights and provide new and exciting opportunities for our students, while expanding upon our excellent educational programs and successful extracurriculars.
Sincerely,
Members of the Woodward Board of Education
